About Kinbaku/Shibari in photo and film

About Kinbaku/Shibari in photo and film
and how it shapes our perception

Seiu Ito is known as the father of modern Kinbaku/Shibari. He was an artist, a photographer and a painter. Event today the rope teachers from Japan that first come to our minds are often involved in publishing photos or films. That makes you think Kinbaku/Shibari always comes together with that.

But wait. There are many discussions on the definition of Kinbaku/Shibari. But none claims that it's necessary to publish pictures after tying to perform proper Kinbaku/Shibari.

Taking pictures is obviously not mandatory for tying.

So there might have been people who discovered the erotic part in tying before Ito. And of course there are still many practicing Kinbaku/Shibari without taking photos.

Kinbaku/Shibari means tying and it's not necessarily accompanied by porn or art in picture, show or film. Of course our perception is exclusively based on things we see. But it is biased because we don't see private tying.

When you experience tying mostly through pictures, films and shows don't expect to experience the whole range. There is no problem with that, but then you should not tell people what shibari/kinbaku is.

Recently there was an article that claimed Kinbaku/Shibari should be erotic in some way and i agree with that. But the author only used examples from porn and bakushi who did porn and shows.
It's common sense that porn doesn't always reflect the reality.  Even some professional bakushi and models say they don't tie in private.
In real life tying your partner it's different every time. The mood changes, even during a session. There are good sessions and bad session. It's a part of real life and not always mindblowing, lifechanging or erotic.

I myself am interested in tying my partner. Nevertheless i am also interested in Kinbaku/Shibari in porn and pornart. I see similarities but it's not the same..

Of course we don't use vanilla porn in sex education. Porn is sex but it doesn't display the whole range of sex and eroticism.
So why is Kinbaku/Shibari porn often used for education and as an example for proper Kinbaku/Shibari? It's an important part but not the whole thing.
We should be aware how pictures, paintings and films shape our perspective on tying.

Keep shibari dirty? It might be still dirty but maybe the dirty moments are simply not published.

Keep shibari free....
